Seven new channels added to Sky High Definition - give your eyeballs a feast
just published SHINYSHINY --
High definition television will ruin you for normal TV. You'll never want to sit and stare at the grainy, low-grade standard def ever again if you switch, which is a shame since there are still a

Sheraton to Install Microsoft Surface in Five US Hotels
2 hours ago THEGADGETBLOG -- Last week, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts ordered 13 Microsoft Surface PCs, for installation in five branches located in Boston, Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle.
The units, which feature 30-inch touch-sensitive displays will be placed in common areas. Sheraton hopes that the guests will find the table computing platforms very useful. But don’t take [...]
Casio Release 3 new cameras with Makeup functions
3 hours ago SHINYSHINY --
The expression pretty as a picture doesn't always ring true. Despite your best efforts your skin might look pale, you're eyes red and your cheeks a tad too rosy. Well fear no more! Casio has launched three new models in its EXILIM range, all with a Makeup function. It's basically a high quality processor that adjusts shadow filters to give you clearer skin and brighter eyes. You can either edit it yourself or use the preset button the EX-300 to adjust it with one click. Sadly, application of lipstick is not included, maybe it will be in the next upgrade?

Online Automotive Interaction Fueled by Social Networking
3 hours ago THEGADGETBLOG --
The concept driving Fuelly.com is simple: let users upload their mileage data and share it with everyone else. That way, you can check if your Civic is running efficiently compared to everyone else’s (including the EPA estimates). And even if you keep to yourself, you’re left with a clear record of how much gas your [...]

Rejoice my friends; the king of the PMP world is rolling out three new models for you to get your grubby mitts on! I've been silently yearning over the Archos 7 ever since it was revealed in all its glory a month ago (at a top secret junket where I was sworn to secrecy) and now it's here! Behold the most beautiful device to hit the PMP market in years. It's sleek, it's super functional, and as long as it's not a fingerprint magnet it will become your new best friend. They're releasing three new M

3's S2 Skype phone offers free phone calls, cheap data and looks good
5 hours ago SHINYSHINY --
There's so much free stuff on the latest incarnation of 3's Skype phone, it wouldn't surprise me if the next step was for them to pay you to use the phone. Obviously being a Skype phone you get free calls to other Skype users, but plug it into your computer and it becomes an HSDPA modem (as well as being able to store 4GB of data). Whilst not free, five quid for 10MB of data isn't anything to be sniffed at.

Non-breathtaking Sony Walkman E-Series details leaked
6 hours ago SHINYSHINY --
I'm not sure the Sony Walkman range is quite exciting enough to suffer from leaked specs, and this latest (leaked) range does nothing to pursued me otherwise. Apart from the obvious pretty hues, the specs don't seem to do much in the way of bowling one over.

Weird Website of the Week: 100 common words
7 hours ago SHINYSHINY --
Brain teasers not time wasters, kids. Keep the mind active, with something other than Popbitch, yes? This site asks you how many of the 100 most common words in the English language you can guess, which in turn, stretches the mind and makes you three times more intelligent. Probably.

The Gadget or the Girl? Playboy TV makes you think about life's tough choices
8 hours ago SHINYSHINY --
It's a situation every Warcraft obsessed Bluetooth-headset wearing geek dreads most. A date with a Page 3 girl or watching a top end OLED TV screen? I can see their poor little glasses misting with sweat already. (Yes, I do know I'm stereotyping horribly, but it's that type of how) Somewhere, somehow, production editors decided that having a Geek-off with gadgets and girls would ensure ratings; think Beauty and the Geek meets Temptation Island. Will the lure of lovely shiny

Copy-and-Paste (Finally) Makes it to the iPhone
10 hours ago THEGADGETBLOG -- It’s amazing how Apple provides products lacking functionality, but enjoy a user-base willing to add the kind of versatility that should’ve been there in the first place!
Case in point: OpenClip, an open-source project dedicated to giving the iPhone copy-paste functionality. Apple’s lucky; they let all the fanboys do the work of making a better product, [...]
Strawberry and Watermelon USB memory drives
Tuesday, 19 August 2008 SHINYSHINY --
If you Google "Strawberry USB" (as I do every day) Shiny Shiny comes up as the top entry (for this tale of "
very chic strawberry necklace-cum-USB drives"). Which is quite how things should be, in my view. Topping up those Google results, I bring you news of these 8GB flash memory keys

Nokia Presents: A Half-Naked Finn!
Tuesday, 19 August 2008 THEGADGETBLOG -- To push its gaming platform on the unwashed developer masses, Nokia has put up the first episode of its N-GAGE Insider Video series. For some reason Nokia decided to use a Sauna bath as a setting. Here’s the half-naked Finn, Miikka Skaffari, as he’s interviewed by the equally half-naked Arnold Faber:

Is Android Ready for the Real World?
Tuesday, 19 August 2008 THEGADGETBLOG -- While Wired Magazine perpetuates the myth of the iPhone’s overwhelming superiority, it still has a good point; Google’s Android OS may be too raw for customers to play around with—or even pay for in the first place. That’s the worry surrounding the FCC’s recent approval of the first Android-powered mobile (manufactured by HTC).

How to Maximize the Silent Alarm Clock’s Vibrations
Tuesday, 19 August 2008 THEGADGETBLOG -- To be clear, the Silent Alarm Clock concept is just that—a concept. Instead of a noise, this clock-wristband setup relies on vibrations to wake up that sleepyhead. And who needs a snooze button when a shake of the wrist will do, especially when more vigorous shaking is needed to activate successive snooze modes.
If there’s only [...]

Memorex Essential TravelDrive in many colours
Tuesday, 19 August 2008 SHINYSHINY --
Since I'm a sucker for anything that comes in "several vibrant colours and easily fits into a laptop bag or travel case", it was only a matter of time before I brought you news of Memorex's range of 320GB portable hard drives. The Essential TravelDrive works with Macs and PCs, draws it power from the USB connection and - most importantly - comes with a "blue, flashing LED"
